Today’s Tears, Tomorrow’s Victories

I have to confess that today my head has been filled with such a heavy heart. I am overwhelmed that I have opened up my life, my heart, my family to a need that is SO much greater than I can fill. When you embark upon a process like this, you go from facts and statistics that are staggering to realizing that every single one of these hundreds of thousands of children is a precious unique child. They didn’t ask for their fate. They are fighting to live or die trying. They were born to mothers who didn’t necessarily stop caring or stop loving. Mothers who are faced to make decisions without husbands to support them. So many making choices solely based on survival. I have found myself terrified thinking of the pain and fear that these children and mother’s have seen and are experiencing right now.

At this very moment, on the other side of the world there is a mother who lives with her sister and their combined 9 children. They live in a room that is about 10′ x 12′. The youngest of these children are 3 boy triplet babies. Over the past year the babies have stopped growing. They are not thriving. They need food, they need water. Can you imagine being that mom? Can you imagine those are your boys? Can you fathom that this is just one story in a sea of people wanting to survive this world that they are in?

I feel so scared and under qualified to continue on this path, but am even more terrified about what will happen if I don’t. God cares for each of these lives. Knows each of their names. He knows their needs. As overwhelmed as I feel now it is nothing compared to how grateful I am that God has chosen my family and I for this journey. Adoption may be our families answer to a part of our call, but my larger calling is to touch and help so many more. One child at a time. Not because I can, but because HE did. May God be lifted up and glorified.

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalm 68:19

***If you would like to help provide these triplets food, please visit and send them a message. They are doing everything they can to take care of these babies.

Here is where our journey begins….

Our family has had a very busy and exciting year, as usual. Just when things might start to mellow out, God has brought us our next adventure. Only this time it is a double blessing. Not only are we going to be working toward advancing His kingdom, but we are also going to be adding to our family! We could not be more excited that we are going to be adopting from Ghana this coming year!

It started this past December when we were introduced to a ministry called Feeding The Orphans ( God quickly sealed our bond and connection with this remarkable ministry. They currently have over 900 children enrolled in their feeding program. This is just the beginning of what they do. They are also providing clean water wells, administer medication to help prevent water bourn illness, selling products made by single mothers to help sustain them so they can keep their families together, offering education sponsorship, facilitating mission trips, and so much more. They are making an amazing impact!

The more we’ve connected with Feeding The Orphans the more we were shaken by the terrifying statistics that lay before these children.
➢    There are over 143,000,000 orphans.  (US Population is appx. 300 million)
➢    Every 15 seconds another child in Africa becomes an AIDS orphan.
➢    Everyday 5760 children in the world become orphans.
So the question is, what can we do that is really going to make a difference? We found that we can make a huge difference one child at a time.

We became food sponsors for 2 boys, Bismark 4 and Sylvesta 5, through Feeding The Orphans. This has been a blessing for our family to be able to provide food to these precious children. We send care packages and pictures. We delight in connecting with them. A true gift has been teaching our children about how to care for others and to make a difference in this world. Many of you have already heard Braden talk about Bismark and Sylvesta, along with “all the little orphans” that he prays for each and every day. These children have inspired us to be advocates for the fatherless.

Many of you know that adoption is something that has been on our hearts for some time. It has always been more of a question of when rather than if. So when we decided to partner with Feeding The Orphans it was clear to see that God was paving the way for so much more. It was fairly easy to get on board with what God was calling us to. But we really struggled seeing how God was going to make this possible. Last year proved to be a very trying and difficult year on us financially and ended with us filling bankruptcy. The big question was how do we recover from that AND adopt? Through all of our praying, searching scripture and talking through it, there was only one answer…have FAITH. So we are moving forward with that and already God is pouring out His blessings and provisions. He has been using many of you and we can’t even begin to thank you enough for your prayers, generosity and love.  We are eager to share what God has so generously done already and look forward to what is to come.

We are going to be doing many things to help offset the cost of bringing the rest of our family home and would love to have you on board for the journey. We thank you in advance for you consideration and support. We would also love to hear from you if you have any other ideas or talents that you would like to share with us!

Each one of us has been gifted with the ability to change the life of an orphan. Please prayerfully consider what your roll may be…Adoption, giving of your time and resources, and/or prayer. If you have questions about adoption, please contact us, we would be honored to help find answers and be praying over your journey. Together with some other families from Rolling Hills Community Church, we are starting an adoption ministry for people interested in adoption, in the process of adopting or those who have already adopted domestically or internationally. If you would like information on our upcoming events, please let us know.

Together we can make a difference! We covet your prayers as we continue on this journey! May we glorify HIM!

Stephen, Tiffany, Braden and Mia
